On March 10, 2016, Alyssa Kenny (28), a single mother, and her 21-month-old daughter Anastasia Alley were discovered raped and murdered in their home in Galax, Virginia. After a two month investigation, DNA led the police to Richard Nofsinger and he was charged with the crimes.

Alyssa did not know her assailant. He was a pedophile who had targeted Ana somehow. Alyssa woke to the sound of a break-in and fought to the death for the life of her child. After her death, little Ana was raped and strangled.

When the suspect was arrested, several videos were discovered on his phone that contained images of him molesting other baby girls. Because of this, federal charges were also brought, and he was sentenced to 60 years in prison without the possibility of parole. Because of his age at sentencing (37), it is unlikely that he will ever be free.
​
In addition, a plea agreement was reached on the murder charges with the family's approval. Richard Nofsinger received life in prison without the possibility of parole to avoid putting the family through a difficult trial.

Left to struggle through our senseless loss, the family of these beautiful girls has created a foundation in their memory.
Services
Deadbolt Program
We are in the process of creating a program which will provide deadbolts installed on all exterior doors to single mothers and women living alone, at no cost to them.
To aid with their financial success, we will assist young women in furthering their education or job training, as well as helping with day care costs. Click here for more information.
